And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's [virgin]ity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a [virgin] of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young [virgin]s, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O [virgin] daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
There is difference also between a wife and a [virgin]. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are [virgin]s. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
