That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shep[herd] is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their [herd]s, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the [herd]s, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our [herd]s of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the [herd] or of the flock:
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your [herd]s and of your flocks:
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy [herd]s or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:
If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy [herd] and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy [herd]s and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
All the firstling males that come of thy [herd] and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep.
And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shep[herd]'s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own [herd], to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shep[herd]s is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine [herd]s: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
Howl, ye shep[herd]s, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the [herd]: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shep[herd]s causing their flocks to lie down.
And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shep[herd] putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shep[herd] that will stand before me?
My people hath been lost sheep: their shep[herd]s have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

Son of man, prophesy against the shep[herd]s of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shep[herd], neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shep[herd]s; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

The words of Amos, who was among the [herd]men of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shep[herd]s said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
